I have a 1987? 55HP Mercury Mariner that when started idles for about 1 minute and stops. When it does idle, it is very rough. When throttling up, it is not smooth but feels like it is running too rich.
It has dual carburation but I need to know where the the adjustments are on the carburators. I do not see anything that looks like a fuel mixture adjustment. Any ideas?

Re: Idle and running problem

Welcome to iboats, B.
Before attempting to adjust the carbs, does
iether one have fuel leaking from it when you pump the primer?
If so, this carb has a stuck needle valve.
At any rate, get a clean spray bottle, and put some mixed fuel in it .
Once you get it started, squirt a few shots into each carb. If performance picks-up, the problem is with that carb. Be carefull. If the engine is 'sneezing' don't attempt this, as it may cause a backfire, and fire in your face :(
But it may help you determine if it's missing fuel, or missing spark that is causing the problem.
