idle mixture

Hey guys, have been over in the I/O department as I'm working on my old ski boat & this outboard has been running great. My question is do the carbs have an adjustable idle mixture or is it controlled by fixed jets? It's a 1990 60hp Johnson w/ vro removed. Serial #TJ60TLESM. It appears to be running rich at idle. The plugs are soaking wet every time I've removed them. It will load up after idling for 10-15 minutes & it seems to be using an awful lot of fuel in general. It fires up easily enough when it's cold & when it's warm I can't turn loose of the key fast enough, it's running as soon as the starter engages. Any thoughts? Compression & spark are good & new non vro fuel pump & all new fuel lines. It runs great just using a lot of fuel & seems especially rich at idle. Thanks. Jim.

On the carb should be a slotted screw with a spring.
Remember where it's set at now.
Slowly/ gently turn it in till it stops.Remember the turn and post them.
Then start at 1 and 1/8th turn out.
Adjust from there.

Excessive fuel can be the fuel pumps diaphragm got a small hole?

Ok Jerry, thanks. And adjust it to obtain the smoothest idle like any other motor?

It has a new fuel pump which I had apart prior to installing it to make sure it was good to go.
