Hi all,
I just split this off my initial post as my first post was pretty long, and more related to an intemittent idle issue I was having. Here's the background:
I've just gotten a set of Boyesen reeds for my 65 hp Johnson as I've been getting a pretty fair amount of fuel/oil mix back through the carbs, especially at WOT. I'm getting ready to put them in, but wanted to see what people recommended here, and if most would agree with the recommendations of Boyesen.
After pulling off the airbox, I see my top carb has a #31 idle orifice as I was expecting from some of the info gathered here. Boyesen recommends changing this 5 sizes (thousandths) smaller to prevent any lean sneeze destruction. Have most of you who have switched to Boyesens followed this recommendation? Will #26 be easy to find or are the sizes usually odd numbered?
I've also read that some people use different size jets on different cylinders as some tend to run warmer than others. I thought I read this about a V4, but do any of you run different sizes on these inline 3's or should I just get 3 of the same size orifice?
Any recommendations on places to get orifices/jets or should I just see my local marine repair shop?
Thanks in advance!
