What should a 2000 115hp Johnson Outboard idle at? About how many RPM's should this engine go up to at WOT, or while cruising at full speed with a light load?

I don't know about that exact model and year, but most idle at 650-700 in gear in the water.

You should shoot for 5500RPM or better WOT on your boat.

Would you say 1000 out of water in neutral is about average? I am going to water test the boat either way so I will keep these numbers in mind.

1000 in neutral with no back pressure is right in the ballpark.

Owners manual says 600-700 warm idle and 4500-5500 WOT.

5800 RPM @ WOT is what you should shoot for (forget the manual).

with the gas we are getting today 5800, is where you want to be, may have to reprop the motor to get there.
