Howdy All, I am new to boat motors, (always used ors in the past 65 years) and also new to this forum.

I just bought a 1988 Lowe 20 ft pontoon boat with a DT 75 Suzuki motor. It will not idle when the prop is trimmed down and in the water also it makes it hard for me to launch and get away from the rocks and reload as well. The online Suzuki manual for this motor states the following:

"On models after 1987, slows peed timing is controlled by "idle speed adjusting switch" that varies timing from 1 degree BTDC to 7 degrees ATDC in 2 degree increments. Each position of the idle speed switch changes idle speed approximately 50 rpm, The idle speed switch is the only provision for adjusting idle speed on models so equipped. Note that carburetor throttle valves must be fully closed for idle speed switch to function, Full advance timing on models after 1987 should be 18 degrees BTDC at full throttle and is controlled automatically by the IC ignition.

Question?? Does anyone know where this "idle speed adjusting switch" is located??

Any and all help/discussion is greatly appreciated by this OLD (76 years young) Dumb Cowboy :)

Thanks in advance,
Rick

Welcome to iBoats (",) .... what is the serial number on the motor? Does the motor run under load? Do you only have an idling problem?
