IDLE SPEED

Can't seem to find the proper idle speed in the oweners manual for a 2001 Johnson 70hp. Anyone know what it may be. It's currently running around 1200/1400 rpm's seems fast to me.

dont really knoe but would guess around 700

The idle speed is usually listed in the "Specifications" page of the Johnson "Operation & Maintenance Manual". The specification will state the idle speed "in gear" (in the water too), which will probably be around 600 - 700 RPM. Of course it will be faster than that in neutral.<br /><br />John from Illinois made a good post about this about 4 or 5 weeks ago.
