idle trouble

anyone know why a motor that only sat up for the winter all of a sudden wont idle?, its a 93,70 force ive replaced the plugs and the fuel filter, no help i cant find the idle screw on the carb ,, any help appreciated... ps... runs great when cruising

Check compression, if compression is low, a motor might run with throttle but not idel.

Clean the carbs, idel is ran off of different jets. So the idel jets might be dirty but the main jets clean. (This is how most carbs works, ive never looked at a force carb but I suspect they workt his way.)

Adjust the idel screw.

I am rebuilding mine, tonight or tomorrow. I will take some step by steps pictures and post them.

dirty carb probably, did you leave gas in it over the winter? If it'll cruise, mix some seafoam into your next tank of gas and run that bad boy out on the water, it should help if its only a little gum in the carbs. I've also heard good things about a fuel treatment made by Starbrite, they sell it at westmarine.

oh yeah and if you've never changed your fuel pump thats probably a good idea too, its an easy job
