Rant On

I ordered a carb kit from a large online marine parts supplier for one of my engines. I used their application chart (which is wrong) and as such recieved the wrong part for my engine. Unfortunatly, this particular supplier does not have the one I need with the float. Of course I opened the packaging after verifying the part # matched the invoice. Now I have an opened (ugly) carb kit that doesn't fit. After recieving the following I think I'll not buy from that outfit again. Too much damn trouble being put back on me.

They send me this. Like I want to go through all that.

Mr. *******

Please follow closely the information below to return the unsatisfactory
product.

The return authorization number for your returning product is:

*******

Returning product must be in new condition and put back in the original
packaging and returned within two weeks of RA# issue. The box as well as the
product must be in re-sellable condition. Write the RA# clearly on the OUTSIDE
of the shipping box and ship to:

**********

As soon as product is received, it will be inspected to determine whether it is
re-sellable. Once this is done, the warehouse will notify me if a credit has
been approved. After this approval, I will credit your credit card. The entire
process can take up to 30 days. When the credit is issued, I will contact you
via email or telephone.

Please supply me with the shipping method, the date the product was shipped
back, and the tracking #. Doing this will allow me to anticipate your credit.
***** Inc. will not be responsible for LOST packages. Please make sure you
return your packages using a shipping service that provides a tracking system.

***All returns must be sent back within 2 weeks of issue of RA#. After 2 weeks,
returns will not be accepted***

We appreciate your order and look forward to doing business with you in the
future.

Thank you,
********

I think a reputable retailer would send me a pre-paid envelope addressed to their own company and take care of me. Lesson learned. Sure didn't take 30 days to get my $ in the first place.

Sounds like a scum-bag drop-shipper, rather than a real dealer.

I went to a Johnnyrude dealer and bought the right kit. At least my carb is back together now.

Id post this on evry boating forum i could find.

Tell evryone exactly what "dealer" it was, and discourage them from shoping there.

Atleast you could cost them ten times what they cost you.

I agree with Autotech1.
Your experience could stop another of us from making the same mistake.

Well, I spent the twelve something for the kit plus the shipping. Now they want me to drive to the post office, pay more shipping, then wait for them to call and tell me no refund because the package is opened.

Their app chart is what caused this mess in the first place. It's not like I bought a $10,000 part, beat it up, changed my mind, and want a refund.

It's all principle at this point.
