I just got a replacement starter from www.dbelectrical.com for my 2.5L 120hp. It is a permanent magnet and much smaller and LIGHTER. It works great and got it on ebay for 78 bucks. IT is 99 bucks on their website. Just thought I'd throw this in since everyone elso I called wanted 140 bucks for a rebuilt starter.

Re: If you need a starter

Bird, thanks for the post. Those new replacement starters a great because of the light weight.

I haven't dealt with your site,so I don't know what they have, but I did deal with a distributor of low cost starters. But stopped, because my need (OMC) had to have 12 volts on the starboard small solenoid terminal. This bypasses the resistance wire in the engine harness and supplies 12 volts to the coil, when cranking, for starting purposes.

Some of his starters had this voltage, some didn't,and he couldn't tell me why.
I'm now strictly ARCO,but keep my eyes open.

Thanks,DHP
