Ignition coil interchangeability question.

I've just discovered that the ignition coils on my 1988 Johnson 110 are not correct per the BRP catalog. According the catalog they should be part number 583737 but the coils on the motor are 582508
I haven't been able to find any info that would suggest that these 2 parts are interchangeable.
From the research I've done, power packs for model year 1988 were unique to that year only so I wonder if its critical to have these specific coils to work properly with the power pack? Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree here, but I wonder if my ongoing ignition issues can be attributed to this?
Any thoughts?
Just to add to the confusion, the OEM service manual says the coils should be 582508 which means either the catalog or the manual is wrong.

those coils 502508 come up for an 86 and 87 could be someone put different coils on

Yes coils could have been changed out .
most coils are the same only difference being is how the wires plug in that supply the power and ground to the coils.
90% of the time if there is a problem with a coil it's a ground.
can you be more specific about your ignition problem so that we might better help you ?

I'd have to say this is a catalog error, I looked at a picture of a 583737 coil (first pic) and the signal input is a wire as opposed to a fixed terminal like on the 582508 (second pic). The power pack output wires have boots on the end that attach to a fixed terminal so it seems logical that the 582508 is correct.

The coils function identically. The one in the right picture is the one currently sold. The 583737 is no longer available. It is superceded by 584561.
