I think theres a problem with my ignition. When I turn the key on the gauges all work but when I turn to the starter position nothing. The motor runs great btw. Do I need to get a new ignition or what? Some help would be great.

No you don't need a new ignition. YOu need to figure out "why" the ignition doesn't work and fix that. But before we can help you, don't you think it would be helpful to tell us what it is you are working on?

Thats a good start, now, what engine and drive do you have.

I'm going to move this thead over to the OMC forum.

There are many different kinds of ignitions, even on the same type of engine.

I recomend first making suer you boat is in nutral. Yes I have had customers who thought they were in fact in gear. check safty switch and teather if equiped. then place test lamp or vilt meter on ignition switch and starter solenoid. check for corroded of loose connections.

When I first got my boat, I realized that the safety switch was off. Try turning the key to where the starter should engage and move the throttle control lever back and forth to see if it switches on.
