hey fellas,

I am also having some issues with my 5.7 that i can't seem to figure out. First we were simply going to replace the blower motor because it would not kick on, so when we took out the blower we hooked it up to the battery and it started up just fine, then we had a throttle issue so we started the engine up a few times and fixed it. We walked away for about ten min to get a drink and now none of my gages work and my ignition swith does nothing, and turns nothing on? 1997 wellcraft eclipse 2000s 5.7L thunderbolt.

Ayuh,... The Big Cannon Plug, connecting the motor, to the boat is a likely culpert,...
Pull it apart, 'n look for corrosion...

nope, cannon plug still greased and lookin good. terminals are good and clean, however when i did a light test on the ignition switch i didnt get a light for anything on the back of the switch. So just for kicks i changed it out to a brand new switch. Still nothing?

well it ended up being some shady wiring done by a previous owner, But i ended up fixing a ton of corroded wiring and now everything seems to work. So now I?m on to my next issue, I don't know the name of this part but what it does is temporarily kill the motor when shifting from fwd to neut to rev, to allow the gears to slow down without slamming into the next gear. Well I can?t get that piece to work right, there is a spring in there that we keep adjusting to try and make it work, we greased the hell out of everything and checked to make sure nothing was torquing on it to inhibit it from doing its job, so at the moment im kinda stuck? And I don?t want to run the motor and take a chance of tearing up my outdrive, any ideas?

I would suggest you start a new thread with shifting issues, the title "ignition issues" doesn't attract many that understand the shift interrupt system and how it actually works. Better read the link below first, because it also doesn't slow gears down when going into gear, it has nothing to do with shifting into gear.
