I have a 1990 25 hp Johnson electric start outboard that wasn’t getting spark to either cylinder. Luckily i found out on this forum that if any voltage is going to my black wire with yellow stripe then that’s my problem and it was (0.04 to be exact). I examined the ign switch and seems that it had a newer switch installed at some point. Ign switch had the push to choke option however there is a push to choke button on the dash that had the red wire going to the ign switch that tied into the bl & y kill switch wire. I unhooked the read wire and was no longer getting a voltage reading and then I could turn off motor from the ign switch. However when I got the boat in the water and got to bout 2000 rpms it wouldnt go any faster and sputtered. I finally unplugged the black and yellow wire at the motor and the motor ran great rest of day but when I want to cut the motor off I’ve got to unplug the bl & y wire at the motor. Sorry in advance for any confusion.
