All of a sudden the ignition switch wouldn't turn the engine over. I didn't hear any clicks from the starter or solenoid. But it started when I crossed the terminals on the solenoid with a screwdriver. All wires on ignition switch are tight.
Sure would appreciate any ideas! Thanks!

Check the neutral switch, it stops the starter solenoid to act if the shifter is not in neutral.
Trace the thin wire (yellow) from the solenoid to the switch.
It is applied at the opposite side of the starter (starboard side).
The shift lever shall depress the switch when the gear is in neutral.

You might be right. I adjusted the shifting linkage and it was way off, so that makes sense about the neutral switch. I'ts not lining up.....I think...because of the bad adjustment I did. I'll check over the weekend.
Great advice......thank you!!!

The 45 Chrysler didn't have a fuse or circuit breaker.
If the linkage is OK?? then the solenoid or key switch could be the problem.
A simple 12v test light is all you need.
Have someone at he key, test light at the yellow/black wire on the solenoid, turn the key and if the light
comes on the solenoids bad. No light, the key switch might be faulty.

You were right about the neutral switch, but this is what happened. A tiny nut vibrated off the shifting rod by the engine and it prevented the shift rod to get back to neutral. Fixed....done....not it starts! Thank you!!!

Jerry, I just worked on a 45 and it sure had a breaker; bad things could happen if a motor didn't have one. Maybe you saw a motor that had a bad breaker and the owner eliminated it? I've never seen a Chrysler or Force with electric start that didn't have that same breaker so some co. had to be cranking them out for decades, probably Electroswitch.
