Ignition part questions - for a 1982 V150

What does a rectifier do????? I understand that a stator generates electricity, the trigger tells when to fire a cylinder, and the switchbox does the old distributor work (I think).

What does the rectifier do?

What is the bias circuit between the two switchboxes?

It converts the AC voltage from alternator to DC to charge the battery.
