Ignition Problems

I have a 1988 Mercriser 3.7 engine thats getting no power into the coil. It has an MSD Igniton system that I initially thought was the culprit but it tested fine as did the coil. The guy at MSD indicated it was a problem with the Mercruiser system. He says its either a bad pick up or bad ignition module. Anyone know how to locate or check these things? <br /> Thanks in advance, Dave

I'm not a pro, but I would think both items are under the Dist. cap. No clue on how to test.....

I'd look at the shift interrupter switch.If the roller is not in the middle of the 'v' it shuts off the ignition.<br />DHP
