Ignition Switch Help!

I'm trying to replace an ignition switch for a 1986 or 87 35hp 2cyl mercury and I don't know which color wires go where. The switch has the following labels:

A- ACCESORY 4 POSITION SWITCH ONLY
B- BATTERY
C- CHOKE (ELECTRIC)-- I HAVE A FLIP LEVER ON THE FRONT FOR THE CHOKE
I- IGNITION
M (2 OF THEM)- MAGNETO
S- START

MY WIRING HARNESS HAS:

RED
BLACK
GREY
BROWN
PURPLE
YELLOW/RED
BLACK/YELLOW
YELLOW/BLACK

I also have a Faria Dress White Tach 7000 (PART# FAR 33104) universal for all outboards coming soon and I'll need to know which wires are for that. I've looked at LOTS of posts on the forums, and I'm feeling pretty stupid since I can't seem to figure out which wires go to which terminals. Please! I could use a bit of help. When something says "magneto goes to M terminal", I don't know which wire is the magneto, and even though I have the manual in front of me, I can't identify the engine parts yet (I'm pretty new to this stuff). Since I can't identify the parts, I can't determine what color wire comes from where....

ANY help with this would be GREATLY appreciated.

thanks

Re: Ignition Switch Help!

1994 merc wires were as follows ,
C = yellow/black
S = yellow/red
M = black/yellow (kill switch wire)
A = Accessory , mine was purple
M2 = Black
B = red/purple

Your gray wire should be your tachometer signal wire
