ignition switch replacement on 1997 evinrude 150

I have lost the keys to my boat a 1997 stratos.It has a 1997 evinrude 150 (model E150ELEDB).I have a new ignition switch and was wondering if you could tell me what the colors on the factory ignition wires represent, so I can accurately install the new switch, they are as followed:<br /><br />solid red <br />red with purple stripe<br />black with white stripe<br />purple with white stripe<br />black with yellow sripe<br />yellow with red stripe<br /><br />the letter on my new switch are:<br />A<br />S<br />C<br />M<br />M<br />S<br /><br />any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe you can save the switch for later use.Look on the barrel of the switch that needs a key.(where you insert the key).If you can read the number,that tells you what key to get from your dealer.<br /><br />Other option is to take the boat by your dealer and have him try his keys and tell you which one you need.<br /><br />Other option is to install the new switch.someone can tell you what the colors are,I usually just swap one wire at a time.<br /><br />DHP<br /><br />Further option I just thought of.Try the key for the new switch in the old switch.You may be lucky.There are only about 9 or so keys that fit that switch.

Im gonna try to use the new switch,the old switch had the kill switch built in it would always fall off when i turned the key,i have a universal kill switch that i will install if i can figure out how to install the new ingition switch

red to the B term, red/purple to the A term, yellow/red to the s term,black/yellow to one M term and the black/wht to the other M term. purple/wht to the C term.
