Re: ignition timing

What year is motor my book shows that 1970-1977 120hp chyrsler timing is 34 deg. Before-Top-Dead-Center @ Wide-Open-Throttle. This is checked in gear in the water. Sorry but it gives no specs at idle. Hope this helps

Re: ignition timing

My understanding is that at idle, the timing is set at TDC. It is only when the throttle is advanced that the timing advances and eventually you get to your 34 degrees BTDC (or whatever the correct timing is for this motor).

Hopefully someone else can verify this or tell me its wrong :p

Shane

Re: ignition timing

Ok everyone,
every force and chrysler outboard ever built will only be timed at wide open throttle 30* @ 5000 rpm's preferrably done on dyno. bret forceparts@yahoo.com
