OK, I noticed water seeping from around the #6 plug, pulled plug and have water on inside of plug and cylinder. would this explain my white gunky stuff coming from exhaust?(unburnt fuel?) What would make water be on the outside and inside? Also noticed engine ran smoother after I dried off plug, makes sense right?

I am assuming my engine works ok until plug gets fouled with water( seems to happen a lot faster at WOT)then it starts to miss.

I read all the posts about water coming from plugs, and understand the sealing around the hole, BUT why am I getting it inside the cylinder also? I am assuming the sealing from the outside will not stop the water from getting into cylinders?

Lets say it is lower crank seals, ummm how big of a process is this?or even exhaust plates? Also wanted to add have not seen any other cylindrs with moisture, just #6. 1984 90 Merc. I had it out all day Saturday with no problems besides the white gunk from exhaust, worked for most of the day on Sunday up until I was WOT for about 5 minutes or so, then it sputtered and I could barely keep it running, let it sit for a day and it fired right up and ran fairly smooth, but thats when I noticed the water seepage!

Man, all I want to do is catch some stripers while they are here in the Hudson!!!

Thanks in advance for any help

Rick

Unrelated are the outside leak and the water in #6.

Lower crank seals are very suspect here, but if the engine stops with the #6 exhaust port open, it'll always look steamy.

Your WOT to sputter problem is not so likely #6, sounds too drastic to be just one. Might be yet a third issue, that is assuming #6 is really getting water past the lower seal at all.

-W
