Re: ilde speed

The adjustment is on the spark advance lever on the engine. Take the cowling off. Have someone move the throttle back and forth. The throttle linkage is connected to the advance lever. Note the position of the advance lever at idle. The screw in the lever adjusts the idle timing. Screw clockwise, and the idle timing will advance, bringing up the idle speed.

Re: ilde speed

You can tie it to a dock or run it on the trailer at idle speed.

Go to the BRP parts diagrams for Evinrude, 1975, 50HP. Crankcase diagram part 51:

BRP Digrams

Re: ilde speed

You don't want to mess with the timing screw, ONLY the idle speed screw ... follow ezeke sugestions for doing it w/o the boat moving.

Re: ilde speed

Screw is on the engine, if you can't get to the diagram, wait until someone can post a picture for you. If you turn the wrong screw you will make a mess.
