Hey guys,
I was just wondering for anyone in Illinois that has sent a trailer title to the dmv along with all the proper paperwork, how long was it before your stuff was returned with your new plates and title?

I sent all my stuff out about 2.5 weeks ago, and havent received anything yet. They did deposit my check, but thats all I have had happen. Just anxious, and was wondering.

It's been a few years since I did mine but IIRC the plates came fairly quickly the title took longer. My best guess is the plates will be there this week and the title in 2 weeks.

Last year it took about 3 weeks to get the plates and about 6-7 weeks to get my title, but Illinois appreciates your check.

There's been times wen Springfield will take over 60 days to get titles done, but the last few years they seem to be a little quicker.[30 days is common] It also seems that they take longer at this time of the year. I bought a truck on about the 4th of feb, don't have a title yet and I'm not really concerned.[got the plates a few days ago]

I figured the title would take some time. I was just hoping that at least the plates wouldnt take so long. But hopefully they will show up this week.

I bought a used bowrider and trailer from a dealer on 2/4/12, and I have yet to see a title or registration on either. A couple of weeks earlier, we bought a small boat and trailer, and I received the papers about a week ago. I guess the first boat and trailer took about 6 weeks or so... not terribly speedy, but this is Illinois....

Yeah, it looks as if its all over the board on titles. I already have the boat title, and that was a nightmare to get. Just waiting on the trailer now.

To reduce it's debt, our state has laid off employes, and now deposits your check as soon as the receive it, even if they haven't even looked at the paperwork yet.

But remember your boat title came from the DNR,not from the sec of state!

Yeah.. And I did that a LONG time ago. DNR was great to work with. DNR>DMV

Tags showed up today!!! :) Downside was, I couldnt figure out why my sticker was only good for ONE month??? I thought that was odd, and called the lady up at DMV. Come to find out the "cheaper" price i paid to do tags was because it was prorated as ALL illinois trailer tags expire in APRIL of the year. Oh well, now I just have to play the rest of the waiting game for the title to show up.

Re: Illinois trailer title MAILING WAIT? Who has done it?

Stopped in at the local Chamber of Commerce on Friday.
Asked to register a boat.

Answer, "we can register anything except boats."

Are you sure?

She checked her little computer, and "oh yeah, I guess we can."

Ten minutes later I had my boat registration and boat stickers.
Five more minutes and I have my trailer registration, plates, and stickers.

Fast forward to Tuesday at noon, the titles for the boat and trailer arrive in my mailbox.

I live in Wisconsin.

sorry, I couldn't resist.

From the Illinois DNR site:

"Boat renewal notices reminding Illinois boat owners that their registration decals are due to expire on June 30, 2012 will be mailed in April. You can renew on-line or by phone at this time. Also, any registration issued after January 1, 2012 with an expiration date of June 30, 2015 will be printed and mailed in April. "

I guess, in my case anyway, I just need to wait until April....

Yeah, the S.O.S. rep I spoke to yesterday told me that they can be easily renewed online. Its on $18 per year after the initial shenanigans.
