Got and email form a work colleague last Thursday with a picture of a lovely little dog that had been found wandering and looking for food round here.
This little yellow Labrador pup needed a home.

Sami Sayegh _.jpg

I forwarded it to my friends and although she?s adorable, I didn?t really want the responsibility of another dog.
I already took in a baby Saluki pup (?Rosie? with the dodgy eye) 3 years ago that we found by some bins here.

Anyway, my wife got to find out about the pup and begged me but I stood my ground and she backed off.
She went out to cut hair that evening and the girl with the pooch popped round to see me???..yeah you guessed it??.
Big hard man who doesn?t want another dog fell in love at first sight.
Karen came home and ?Molly? was asleep on my lap!

Love her already, except all the wee and pooh around the house but hopefully that won?t be for too long! Will it?

training a dog is easy. the second a pup gets up, get them outside. their first need when they get up is to relieve themselves.

congrats on the new pup

She is gorgeous, Marco! I doubt that you will ever regret giving her a home.

Great job Marco, that is one beauty of a puppy. I would have fallen the same way.

LOL Marco - I woulda' done it about the same way. 'Cept, I probably would have caved faster ... I love retrievers. Nice thing about Labs and Goldens ... show 'em a couple times and they nearly housebreak themselves.

Great looking dog ... you'll love her.

You are a good person. Our 12 year old akita is very sick and it appears she may not make it. Your story has interupted out grief with a smile. thanks

She's still peein and pooing everywhere.:mad::confused::(
Tried taking her out every time she wakes trouble is she sleep every flipping 45 minutes!

Rosie (Saluki) was really easy to train but this little one.......I know it's early days but I need to get this sorted soon as we are going away on the 4th May and she's staying with friends.

What do you reckon guys? Any ideas how to get her trained as quick as possible?

Keep doing what your doing. You gotta stay after 'em to get them housebroken. Some puppies take a little longer than others. Stay patient. Congrats on the new pup. She is a beutiful puppy.

We used a cage for one of our pups. Any time we left the house we put him in it, let him outside when we made it home. Also did this for night time. They don't like to go where they sleep and ours learned real quick that outside was the place to go.

^ +1 Crate training worked like a charm for us too when we got our Rotty pup. Though, it didn't hurt that our Shepherd turned into Mr. Mom and kept the little one in line.

Begin gently punishing (put her nose to the mess) gently with a deep growly "no" inside, and praising her like she just dug up a lot of buried gold when goes outside (higher pitched voice and excited). Retrievers respond pretty well to that sort of thing. Kenneling might help too (limiting range), but I would suggest against "treats" as rewards for what should be a normal day-to-day deal.
