I'm blowing brown smoke from my truck

I have a 1991 Chevy S-10, automatic, 4X4, which has sat for a while.....probably about a year.
In the summer I had to drain the gas from the tank because a friend of mine put some bad gas that he drained from my car. He pulled the plug on the gas tank and drained it and then put it in my truck. The truck would start and then stall constantly.
So I drained the tank and put fresh gas in (about 3 months ago), and added Stabil.
I put in $5 of fresh gas today and drove it for about15 miles.
My friend was driving behind me and said there was brown/copper color coming from the exhaust.
I know that white smoke is a head gasket, but never ever seen brown or a copper color coming from the exhaust.
I've searched my owners manual and the internet, but came up empty.
Has anyone ever heard of this or have any idea of what it could be?
Any help would be appreciated.

keep driving, it will go away, clould be rust from the exhaust from setting, or carbon build up, go out on the road and floor it to blow it out...............

I never thought about it coming from the exhaust....makes sense though.
Think I will give it another run and see if it disappears.

sounds like rust.

did you change the fuel filter too?

KRS, yeah, I changed the filter about 3 months ago when I drained the fuel tank.

White is coolant, blue or gray is oil, black is gas/carbon. But brown? Crappy gas? (Get it? Crappy?)

My guess is the burning of the gas conditioner, or rust. Change fuel filter again and keep running. See if it clears up after a couple tanks full of gas. Good luck!

Well, there does not seem to be any more copper or brown smoke, so that is good! It must have been rust in the tailpipe.
