I know its a bit late, but with all the posts on the Superbowl commercials and 1/2 time show I realize how different I am from the rest of you. I didn't find them to be offensive. I didn't care for Kid Rock wearing the American flag like a "Poncho" but that's it. As far as the erection problem pills I must have been grabbing a beer or something, because I didn't see them. In a world where men rape young girls and boys and even save them in the frig for later why on earth would this offend me. Everyday I look for things to laugh at and believe me I laughed at a lot of those commercials, so I'm not going to be a hypocrite and say they didn't. As far as kids go my 8 yr old daughter saw the 1/2 time show and just laughed it off with me. Just like her daddy. (that would be Erin sister of Tyler, hence Tylerin). With this said I believe I'll slow down my posts here because I don't want to offend people with my demented sense of humor. I like all you guys. I come here to laugh but have to admit at times I've almost cried (sad stories). This is 2004, things are obviously changing, I just roll with it. Sorry for the long post. Mike

give me and you a 12pack and a couple hours and
I'm pretty sure we could have come up with much
better/funnier commercials Tylerin.
the only thing that was offensive to me was how
stupid they were. directed towards idiots IMO.
millions of dollars spent for a spot and all they
could come up with was potty humor? is this
gradeschool or what?

I should have paid for the "lingere' bowl" at
halftime on pay-per-view maybe... LOL

I'm with you mike, A good laugh makes the pain go away and eases tension. I liked the bud light ad with the fetching dogs.

Tylerin aka Mike. It wasn't a matter of being offended for me. I laughed out loud myself at some of the commercials. But common decency and right time/right place should play a role. To me, the Jackson thing was just plain classless at this type of event.

Who the heck cares if you offend anybody? You can't say "good morning" to everyone without offending someone nowadays. You can't please everyone, don't even try. Just be you. Your "demented" sense of humor is one of the reasons I am here every morning, I need a good laugh or two to kick-start the day man.

I was not offended by the halftime show...I just think it was the wrong venue. Same as if they started playing football at a topless bar.

You should have the reasonable expectancy of the content of the show especially where minors are concerned.

I try to controll what my kids watch...Kinda toufhg to do when they break into a Pg13 movie with an R clip if ya know what I mean. Shouldn't they just rate it with an R instead.

As far as the differance of opinion's...Wouldn't this be a borring place without them. Stick around.

I was highly offended by Kid Rock's wearing of the American flag as a cape!

That was totally uncalled for!

Check out this site:

http://www.usflag.org/flag.etiquette.html

As far as Janet Jackson is concerned, she's just a whoe, just like her brother!!!

Exposing herself to children, just like what her brother is on trial for!!!!

This was criminal!

If I wanted a strip show, I would have went to strip club to see it!

It should not have been a strip show on Prime Time television.

Maybe the Super Bowl should be viewed at midnight, when vunerable children can't be exposed to this vulgar activity!

Bring back the "Mean Joe Greene and the Kid" commercial!

They should skip the game and just go right to the strip show. In fact, a little live action would be even better. Let's get Paris Hilton and a partner up there next year :D

Seriously, for adults it was fine. But that is a world stage and family show. To have that sort of stuff and not even be warned is inappropriate. You don't expect it and and therefore, can't make an informed decision. Let's face it, there is a big difference between unintentionally offending someone and intentionally trying to offend people by knowingly acting inappropriately. It is about standards and consideration for others.

These things are starting to run open loop with one-upsmanship - In order to shock you have to go farther than the last act. You either draw a solid line, communicate it and enforce it or you are going to eventually get to Paris Hilton in a live act...JMHO

And let's face it, as far a Janet goes, the Jacksons already have a black eye. That act was plain stupid!

Edit:

I am watching the million or so people already gathered for the Pats victory parade. I see lots of young people acting badly. Where do you think they got the idea it was ok to flash their breasts, use profanity and be inconsiderate from? Where did that woman, holding the sign "I want to Mount Ted Washington" get the idea a sign like that was appropriate? Gee I wonder...

Hey ty man, don't sweat it.
I offend people ever day and it don't bother me none.
Don't care what people think of me either.
Learn that a long time ago.
Take me the way I am or move on.
Did not watch the game, don't watch any sports really, maybe a hockey game ever now and again.

As far as the half time show, what I have read and heard, sameo-sameo, just a bunch of washed up want-a-be's doing what they do best, nothing.

Tylerin, I can't say I was offended, 'cause I really didn't see that much.

I don't watch any commercials, thats the whole reason I got that little dish.

Funny or not, they don't sell me anything with television commercials 'cause I never watch 'em.

As far as the Halftime show, didn't see it either, I was probably too busy playin hide-n-seek with the kids. ;)

Re: I'm different

Tylerin,

Take away the issues of suitability, did you find the halftime show entertaining? The largest tv audience of the year, was that the best in entertainment that the United States had to offer???

I just thought even without the controversy it was lousy.

As for the commercials, I didn't think they were very creative at all. A farting horse is not all that creative, but I did laugh. Wood pills I guess I don't care, think of the demographics, they are ideal for selling a product like that. And they were a little more discript than necessary but if you had that problem then, I bet you would love to know about new products such as levitra or whatever. I was just let down from an entertainment position. I just didn't see anything that looked original or really funny. They are something that keep people who are not interested in the game watching every year. :D

I just felt that the production as a whole was ill-conceived and executed. The talent was wrong, How many die-hard football fans were just dying to see justin timberlake???

This event was held in HOUSTON, TX.. What did the entertainment provide to highlight the state of TX????? Other than Willy, was there a 10 gallon hat in the lineup or halftime show? Shouldn't there be a theme to each Super Bowl to make it unique? This is where I find my greatest disappointment. It was all there waiting for them and they brought in their hollywood buddies to put on a show for an audience that doesn't watch the super bowl... :p

The rest of it just highlighted the arrogance of the MTV crowd..

Re: I'm different

Only watched the game...saw some of the commercials...Intentionally didn't watch the halftime...not the kind of entertainment that I like anyway. Didn't watch the pregame stuff either. The sports part suits me. I believe they (NFL, MTV, CBS) try to market the game to every age/gender/racial group. In doing so they tend to offend the "sports" group. The advertising gurus who come up the commercials lose it sometimes, other times they get it right or at least make an entertaining/funny commercial. Try not to take what is shown on TV or in the movies as "entertainment" too seriously.

Re: I'm different

Wasn't offended at all, but I didn't watch anything but the 4th quarter.

The pregame hype about the halftime show and the commercials warned me that I would not like either, so I watched a boxing match.

It appears that it was a good decision.

I guess that makes me different, too, Mike.

Wouldn't this be a dull world if we were all the same??

Re: I'm different

I was highly offended by wearing the flag. That is against flag etiquette, and in my opinion, an insult to the men and women fighting overseas.

The boob didn't bother me. Even if kids see a boob, so what? It's just a damn boob. Not that big of a deal. No different than a child seeing a baby breastfeed in public. Nobody is making a big deal over the sex scenes in soaps and sex scenes in the shows that play in the evenings on the major networks.

Grow up people.

Re: I'm different

The men and women fighting overseas are doing that so you have the right to wear the flag, burn the flag, heck even do some things with the flag I will not mention. I don't think Kid Rock was doing it to be disrespectful, he just came back from a troop rally in Iraq. I think it was just ignorance on his part.

I think your right gauge. Not many young people
know that it is disrespectful to wear the flag.
I'll bet even most older folk don't know either,
or forgot.
