You guessed it im a newbie. I was out boating today when all of a sudden BAM. Well needless to say I ruined my prop. The real question is I dont have a clue of what prop size I need. I have a 1983 Johnson V4 115 hp. Any help on what size prop and pitch would be appreciated. I do use the boat for fishing and water skiing if that helps any.

Take it to a prop shop.. Most times they can be repaired for half the price of a new one.

county,

Di you have a tachometer? Your engine should turn about 5500 rpm at wide open throttle. If your old prop did that, you need to replace it with one of the same diameter and pitch.

Typically, every inch in pitch is worth about 200 rpm. If you find out what prop size you have now, you can figure out your optimum size from there.
