Hey guys I have a problem I have a 1998 suzuki 225. the problem is when I crank up the boat it cranks but while it ideals it slowy starts to die off. happens everytime I crank it up. I'm stuck I've tryed everything I've changed the fuel lines and put new ones on, I've drained the fuel tank and drained the fuel rail and put fresh gas in and I also put all new spark plugs on and the problem is still happening I'm stuck guys I need help thanks.

will it start back up? does choke work? does it get better after it warms up? does fuel ball go soft? if it does try squeezing it while its trying to die, if this helps ,you need to rebuild fuel pump

Yea it'll start back up but it'll do the samething start to die off and sometimes when I keep trying to crank it up it'll get worse till it won't crank but then if I wait 10 mins. It'll crank right up then start to die off back to point A. I haven't checked the choke yet I'm a fist time boat owner I don't know where the choke is on the outboard is. Sometimes the ball gets soft.and sometimes dosent. The fuel pump is fairly new. Let me know what u think thanks man.

Any hiss from the tank? Sounds like a vent issue- starts up after 10 min. What about the anti siphon valve or check valve in the fuel line. Any air leaks discernible at the filter or in the fuel line?

Where would I find the anti siphon valve or the vavle in the fuel line sorry I don't know a lot about boats. What do u mean by hiss from the tank?

there is vent on top of tank it should be open.also the choke is usually just for starting,when turning key you shouldalso be able to push button in,this activates auto choke.But you say bulb is hard and sometimes soft? are you squweezing it everytime? once running it should stay primed, you didn't say if squweezing bulb made a differance. anti siphon is in fuel line at bulb it only allows fuel to go one way when working correctly

If you want to find out if the motor is having a fuel delivery problem test the system. If it does not, then start looking at other things.

I am fairly sure this motor is an EFI, no carbs and chokes, but you have not given much info.

You need to get a service manual for the motor and start troubleshooting with the proper tools and equipment
