Impeler replacement

Hello all, trying to relace impeller on 97 VP 3.0 GS MLKD. Does the impeller just slide on the shaft? I dont want to damage the housing so i figured i would ask before i tore up anything, also the impeller is in pretty bad shape, found a few pieces in the thermostat house but i wondering where else i would look to find more?

Yes, the just slide on with a twisting motion to get them started. Some dish washing liquid makes them a bit easier to install.
New gasket/oring on the cover.
Never run the engine without water to the drive with muffs or in the water, and trim the drive all the way down before starting.
Anywhere through the cooling system you could find parts. Even in the risers.
