Not sure on your model. It will be a rod running down the back side of the leg with a coupling on it or there will be a small cover on the side of the leg with a clamp inside holding the two rods together. You might want to put a bolt back in it so it does not drop when you get the rod unhooked.
Have the foot off and the impellar is new. Guy I got this on trade from said it had been replaced. The impellar and entire lower end was filled with mud. I cleaned everything best I could and trying to put back together. Having trouble getting shift lever hooked back up. It is the kind with a pin. 89 evinrude 110. Any tips on getting shift rod back together? Also is there anything special I should do to flush motor?
I hate to tell you this but if you had an OEM service manual it tells you exactly how to do it. But it's a matter of sliding over the shift linkage under the lower carb and putting the pin in that linkage through the shift rod, sliding it back and replacing the retaining pin that was hopefully removed when g/c was taken off.
AHHH Understood. To be honest I am in construction in florida. If I had the spare change I would get the manual. Have five boats here I am trying to piece togethet a little at a time. Just trying to move mountains with no money. Thanks for the advice though. I think after I get this done it will be allot easier the second time around.
I am doing the same thing with my 90HP. Got everything apart, but cannot re-link with the shift linkage. I too do not have a manual and am looking for any help.
I always make sure the shift linkage and the shift rod are in Neutral before pulling the lower unit. I remove the Pin/screw from the shift trunnion under the lower carb before the bolts on the LU.
When installing the LU I make sure the shift rod has not twisted any and then gently slide the unit up insuring the shift rod has slid back into the trunnion, put one bolt in the LU and then the Pin/screw into the shift rod. Finish the rest of the LU bolts and enjoy boating!
Yes indeed. Was pretty simple once I had proper lighting and put on my glasses. When you push the shift lever in it seperates and the pin opens up allowing the down rod to be manipulated in the proper position, The pull back on the shift lever and re-install small hitch pin. Just could not vusualize it until I could actually see it in operation. As always, thanks to all!!!
If I don't get rid of this or trade it I will pick one up when work picks up.
Thanks again !!
Next one will be learning a liitle about the berkley, sure it will be a joy.
