impellar replacement steps for 1972 mercruiser 165 Hp

hello, <br /><br />can anyone please help me with the steps required to replace the impellar , do i go through the top or bottom , and if there is any special things i should be aware of please list them , , the boat is 1972 Marlin Cuddy , fibreglass tri hull with / mercruiser 165 horse i/o. <br />thank you for all your help in this matter<br />perry

1) Yes,........ Buy a Manual.......<br />
do i go through the top or bottom
2) The Outdrive is Split in the Middle.........<br />
if there is any special things i should be aware of please list them
3) The are Many Things to watch for..... See #1 for the Total Answer..............<br /><br />Good Luck....

Perry, see if this is what yer looking for. http://www.mercstuff.com/waterpumpinst.htm it's not a bad job. just have two people aournd to take it off and specially to put it back on. it's heavy going back on. if ya look back at my past posts i had much trouble getting mine to go back on. but it did. and do get yerself a manual too. it's very helpfull. the most valuable tool you'll have. some knowledge about yer 72, 165.
