Smaller engines are different. You must remove both halves of the cowling. On the starboard side is a coupler. Loosen the locknut and leave it in position for reference. Then unscrew the coupler. Now, remove the four nuts and?or bolts holding the lower unit. It should drop down and the water pump is on top there are three or four bolts/flathead screws holding it depending upon year.
If by chance it is a twin carb 55 then the larger engine instructions will do.
