Well, I got 'er done! :) :) Housing changed and all. The guy with the 85hp that said that the shift connector is the hardest part is right on! Also, I was a little disappointed as my kit didn't have the little plate that goes on the top of the housing (when the engine is assembled and mounted). So I had to scrape the old rubber off of the old one and clean it up to install it on the new housing. For background, this engine has under 30 hours and was always stored inside, but not used from anywhere between 6 to 10 years. Under the hood looks like brand new. When my Bro in law had it at the marina last they had it on the cups and had no pee stream. After a few seconds of that my BIL told them to shut it down and he never did anything with it after that. Water hole (top of housing) was solid plugged with disintegrated rubber! So that easily explains the problem. Impeller was totally shot too, but came off fine. I had read about a few sticking, but mine pulled off effortlessly.

Checking it on the lake tonight! Will let you know how it goes.

Jeff

Re: Impeller Changed (Lake test rep. and question)

Got it out on the lake. Was the first time starting in many years. New Battery, a little carb cleaner in the carbs... Turned key... nothing. Turned key a couple more times and starter finally kicked in. Started right away and died. Would run on prime only so kept priming... Did that for about 3 minutes and was ready to give up. Decided to try a few more times then the gas must have dissolved the old gas in the carbs and it ran flawlessly. Took it down the lake and it ran just like new!!! Great pee stream right off, then after some running did not have as much stream. Only a good steady drip on full. Is my new impeller still doing its job? I felt the cylinder heads and they were barely warm - not overly hot at all.

Jeff
