Replies on a previous post help me get to this point. I was having trouble with heavy starting. It turns out it was a combination of a problem with the impeller/water pump that has caused my starter to "blow". Removed the new lower unit as was suggested and replaced the starter and it turned over nicely. Now I need to figure out what is the problem with the implellar/water pump. The impellar was just installed new prior to the problems. What could have gone wrong? Poor installation, wrong impellar? Wit the impellar installed the shaft is tight, almost stuck. With it off, it moves freely.

Jeepers ,read previous post and it was indicated by you that binding problem existed before impeller was changed.Don't know what you're considering to be binding without first hand look ,however impellers are a rather tight fit in housing and will feel difficult to move by hand if rotating driveshaft. If it feels as if it is excessively hard to move you need to insure that you are moving it only in direction of engine rotation as any other direction will bind to point of impeller attempting to reverse its flutes .Perhaps was installed backwards ,however will have to be removed to determine.
