Impeller on 72 Merc 85 hp?

Just bought a boat with a 1972 Mercury 85 horespower with "thunderbolt". How do you get to the water pump? or remove the lower casing? How hard is this job? And do I need the impeller kit?<br /><br /> Thanks,<br /> Chris<br /> cfinkbe@aol.com

not a hard job if you have the manual.<br />pump kit includes new impeller and pump<br />gaskets. sits on the driveshaft and pumps<br />water as the shaft turns.<br />manuals for sale bottom left of this page<br />and maybe have one at local library.<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.
