Impeller on 82 9.8 Merc

Is there anything tricky about replacing the impeller on previously mentioned 9.8 Merc OB. My neighbor is bringing it over so he can be in the 4th of July parade on his lake and I am going to help him out.<br /><br />Any gotchas or tips are appreciated.

If its anything like the one I did for my 85hp force than you shouldnt have any problems. It took me about 10 minutes to take it off and once I got the right impeller, about 15 to put it all back together. It was the first time I had done one if thats any reassurrance to you.

Well I got it apart and replaced the impeller with no issues. The previsous impeller had no vanes left, literally. My neighbor didn't know it was a bad idea to dry start it before it went in the lake. Now he knows why its a bad idea..<br /><br />The issue is that all those impeller pieces are now lodged soemwhere in the engine. When I start it, I get a good strong stream, but then it stops. I blow air down the telltale hole and start it and I have a strong stream again.<br /><br />Any tips on removing these pieces?? I am going to remove the LU again tomorrow and see if I can blow any pieces out of there. Any other ideas other than a complete teardown??
