Hello all, should i change the entire water pump or just the impeller? is it that much more work to do the whole job? would like to save a few bucks but not at the expense of bad gasgets or corodid plate etc, etc....

kit = $85
impeller = 15
sleeping at night = priceless!

I just did my impeller and to change the whole kit would have been the same as changing the impeller only. You must remove the housing to get to the impeller so its already off, the plate below the impeller will slide right up once the impeller is removed. My guess for you is as long as you dont run in salt water or your motor isnt a 1950 your pump parts will be OK. Somebody else with way more knowledge will be along to offer a better opinion so I would wait for that before making my my mind up. lol

Then judging from my outboard experience, 4 different outboards, I would say you would only need the impeller.
