How do you know if the impeller is not working or starting to go. Would water still come out the pee holes and exhaust if not working? The reason for the question is I thought I saw some steam coming from my exhaust but still has water coming from both outlets. And where is the over heating alarm located and how can you test if working? I located the sensor on the block but where is the buzzer alarm. thanks

Steam is just steam. The alarm is under the dash or in the shifter.Depends on madel and boat. If you have water pumping out the back the impeller is probably good. When it stops or slows down then you need to change it.Turn on the key and ground out the orange wire it should make the buzzer sound off.Jerry

The sensor in the head will show an open circuit from the orange wire to the ground on the motor block UNLESS the water temp is high (my manual says 160 to 170 degrees0. To test the sensor, you put the metal head in hot water at the right temp and check to see if you get continuity from the wire to the face or threads of the sensor.

To test the buzzer, just put 12 volts across the terminals. Make sure you have the polarity right.
