Impeller question?

According to the installation instructions of a water pump and housing from OMC for a 150-hp 1988 Evinrude. On the kit they include two thick o-rings about the size of a quoter. Another o-ring a bit smaller that goes all the way on top of the drive shaft. My questions is as follow, I installed all the other seals and gaskets exactly where they go, the large o-ring that goes between the plate and the impeller housing, another one that goes between the impeller metal case and the impeller housing, but according to the drawing on the instructions, I'm suppose to install one of the two thick o-rings on the groove on one side of the impeller, the side that rests on the plate, but the drawing does not show where I'm suppose to install the other thick o-ring, so I have one left over thick o-ring. My question is as follow, I'm I suppose to install the other thick o-ring on the other groove on the other side of the impeller, because the problem that I am having is that when I put the lower unit back on and I crank the motor, I'm having a water leak that was not there before and i am wondering if it perhaps it has to do with this extra o-ring not being installed in the right place. Please any advices.

Re: Impeller question?

This is where then OMC shop and parts manuals come in handy. Ususlly water pump kits cover a number of motors and may have parts not needed for your motor.

Where is the new leak?
