I need to replace an impeller on a 1994 OMC Cobra / V8 5.0
I believe I located the pump containing the impeller just below the alternator. Looks like two side bolts and a top screw hold this together. I can remove the bolts, but the top screw will not budge. I've stopped before I destroy this screw for good. Does this screw even need to be removed?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. This is not my pump, but I'll try and find a model number. I see this diagram included a top screw similar to the one I have. Thanks again.

If this is your pump which there is no guarantee unless you give us your model number, that screw holds in the screen #9 in the diagragm. No need to remove.[/QUOTE]

Does your pump look like the one below? #4 screw holds the #6 cam in place, and usually has some Locktite on it to keep it from leaking and coming apart. Might try a bit of heat to see if it will break free. If it's not leaking and you aren't planning on replacing the cam, then there is no reason to remove it.
