impeller replacement

Hi

I replaced my impeller today on my 4.3L GL Volvo. Ran it for a few minutes and no water out the exhaust.

The impeller vanes were all seated correctly...do I need to run up the rpm's to get the water to suck up to the impeller?

Thanks!

How were you providing it water? Muffs? Lake? Bucket?

Re: impeller replacement

Doctor Strangelove is an advocate for running the engines w/ the seacocks closed, then replacing the impellers underway, just 'cause he's that good...

Is the seacock open? My preference is to open the strainer 'till raw water bubbles out the top.

Are the vanes flopped in the correct orientation?

Is there an obstruction, suck as marine growth, preventing or restricting flow? Could that have contributed to the prior failure?

I was running it on the ear muffs/hose....the highest rpm I ran was 1000.

Not sure what you are referring to by "seacock?" The vanes are oriented correctly I made sure of that...no obstructions as the previous impeller did not fail I am just replacing it because it was due for a change.
