1974 Merc 850....

Got my new waterpump kit today and I am ready to assemble. There were no instructions but I left the old one in place (except impeller) to match new parts.

Here is the question... When looking down the drive shaft at the top of the water pump, which way does the driveshaft and subsequently the impeller turn. Clockwise (my assumption) or counter clockwise? I will need to flex the impeller fins at an angle to install and I want to be sure I match the rotation.

Thnaks in advance for any help

Thanks for the replies... Next question...

How difficult should it be to get the water pump base seated down over the drive shaft. Although I am 99.999% sure I got the right kit it seems that the seal in the base is too small. The drive shaft tapers to a larger diameter close to the bearing it I really cant get the base to seat.

not sure about the seal, but the impeller will
correct itself whichever way you install it once
the shaft turns.
good luck,
M.Y.
