1990 alpha 1. Have an impeller that wont come off the shaft. The Impeller was really wasted, and the housing got so hot it actually bubbled up the plastic on the outside. I have read some info that says in extreme cases you have to split the old impeller with a chisel. I dont want to bang around on the shaft. I can move the impeller up and down about 1/8" and it will spin left to right just a little. So I can get it to move a little it just wont come up.Any ideas...Thanks

Re: impeller stuck

Try so penatrating oil over nite, if you have to spilt it just be sure to buck the shaft up or lay the unit down and support the shaft with a block of wood--Bob

Re: impeller stuck

and when you get it off carefully inspect the pump base for any signs of melt. any signs of melt on either housing is cause for replacement of that housing. and dont start the drive without water :) its the only thing that causes melt like that.

Re: impeller stuck

Ya got a booger on the shaft. Being the impeller will move a bit means it ain't frozen. Probably got some corrosion or melted plastic on the drive shaft. Use a long punch and hammer and knock the impeller upward past or over what's holding it. Before installing the new impeller, use some fine sandpaper to clean the shaft up.

Re: impeller stuck

A Dermel Tool can be used to cut thru the impeller without hitting the shaft.....

Once it's cut-thru,..... It'll Slide Right Off......
