1985 85hp Force motor. On the bottom of the lower unit are the inlet's for water
that leads to the impeller, where you would hook up the "Muffs". It's like a grid cut out of the cast. One of those "bars", (I'll call it), is missing, I'm wondering if there is an easy fix for this. I was going to try to fab up some kind of screen to fit over the hole. I'm just afraid something is going to get sucked into that inlet & jam up the impeller. Any ideas? I'll try to take a pic. of it later & post it up in case I'm not explaining it correctly.

Re: Impeller water intake hole

Your chance of picking up something is very small. If you put something over it it will create a restriction and you won't get enough water flow.
I'd leave it alone.Unless you want to get a new case and replace it.J
