In-Hull Transducer

I have a 2001 Larson 180 SEI. I bought a Hawkeye depth finder which came with an in hull/transom mount transducer. I do not want to mount it on the transom for obvious drilling in to boat reasons. I really want to mount it using the in-hull option. Has anyone mounted the transducer with the exact or similar boat? If so can you provide some feedback or pics on where to mount it? I have read all the directions but they mention about testing it out prior to epoxying it in. Would be a lot quicker if someone else has already done this and with good results. Also does anyone have some particular negative information about mounting in-hull? I know about the reduced performance but more interested in my exact type of boat performance. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

I personally havent been impressed with the hawkeye depth finder. Im yanking out the hawkeye and installing a garmin

It works ok at low speeds, however seems to cut out above 20mph
