In need of a good compound

The boat needs to be componded, (not too chalky), but want to compound it before I wax it. I have never compounded a boat so there are a couple of questions.
First - can anyone reccommend a good one that I will be able to do. The boat is 29' and I want to still be able to move my arms when I'm done.

Second - do you compound the the slip proof area too or do you just do the smooth surfaces?

Thanks

Smooth surfaces, turtle wax white compound and get a cheap orbital polisher or your arms will drop off on a boat that size.
Why do you need to use the compound ???
The white is a polishing compound, the red is a rubbing compound.

Re: In need of a good compound

Go to an auto body shop and ask them for 3M rubbing compound, and 3M polishing compound and a general purpose foam "hook and loop" buffing pad for a single action, variable speed buffer. Going Turtle Wax you may as well rub dirt on it compared to the 3M stuff. It's like magic!

Do not buy an orbital buffer. They're junk. Spend the money on a real, single-action variable speed buffer and you'll be done in half the time, and the shine will be twice what a cheapo orbital will do.

You simply can't get a better shine from the tools I've mentioned here. No matter what else you use, you'll be shocked at the difference the right tools will make when it comes to buffing.

I have use the 3M and the turtle rubbing compound and really can't tell a difference when removing 2000 grit sanding marks. Take your pick.... But, the comment about the polisher is what you need. Something like http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10671083 Save the orbital for the final wax. Use a variable speed polisher for the big job. Have lots of the wool pads available so when they get full, you can change it out. It only takes a little compund to go a long way.

x-2 use 3M Fiberglass Cleaner and Wax # 09009 if the oxidation is light. If it's bad go to the 3M color restore. You MUST use the variable speed polisher bhammer recommended and follow the instructions on the bottle. Warning Keep both hands on the polisher at all times when running it.
