I have a huge question maybe somebody on here can help me my mom just gave me a boat i know its a bayliner cobra with a 125 force engine and i have not a clue about this thing or even how to work this website which is kinda sad haha im a car mechanic and good at restorations but never did one with a boat so my question is
1 how do i tell what year it is?

2 ive done upholstry for jaguars and maseratis and was wondering what website i can get a kit from for the front and rear seats? And websites for other parts

3 is there a special kind of paint i need to repaint it?

4 and what info does anybody have on the 125 force engine and what do they sell for running?

Im 20 yrs old and first time dealing with a boat so any information about this would be extremely helpful thank you

Welcome aboard Znace:

Steve's right - HIN is your best help to tell what year the boat is. It should be stamped into the hull on the right side of the stern, just under the rub rail. It may also be printed on the placard near the helm (assuming it's still there).

I don't know of any upholstery kits for boats. You can get the vinyl for a DIY project, or buy replacement seats altogether. Hunt around in the RESTORATION FORUMS and you'll see some projects others have done.

The Force isn't worth too much runnin' - assuming it's a late 80s model. Force isn't regarded as a "desirable" brand of outboard. They made a bunch of 'em, and I know guys keep 'em going a long time. But they've got a bad reputation popularly.
