you could get a solar cell. They sell them at gander mountian. Not sure on the cost but my brother in law swears by them. I doubt your car battery is viable option. You would have to run your car for a couple of hours to recharge it.

Re: info needed on keeping battery charged

There are some 900 watt gas generators on the market that put out 115v or 12v@8-9 amps or so for charging...They cost about $195.00 bucks plus tax and are the size of a big lunch box. If you have a group 29 battery(120 amper or so) gone flat thats 15 hours of charging time. Group 27 would be about 4-5 hours less charging. Keep in mind most outboards blast out about 15 amps and some bigger outboards 40 amps or more except for the little outboards. So subtract your run time on the motor to needed charge time. I have Maxxim 40 lb. thrust 12v and have used ALL day on my boat in windy conditions and have yet to kill the battery. Its never been below 50% charge on my single group 29 battery. In my case that gas generator would charge the battery in about 6 hours tops...If you want a faster charge, bite the bullet and get a bigger generator that actualy can run a 10-20 amp charger....
