Does anyone know where I can read all about this particular motor? Also, it is a tilt and trim if that matters. I have questions regarding specifications of the motor, oil- gas ratio, warning buzzer sounding in short bursts shortly after startup, (thought it may just do that all the time at startup just to let you know that the warning is working, but it stopped and sounded again a couple of minutes later. Any ideas?)The maintainence of motor, winterizing and anything else I should know to be sure the motor is in tip top shape and to keep it there. Approx. what this motor would be worth if purchased alone. By the way, I am a woman boater and am trying to learn all I can about this motor. Thanks ahead of time.

I have the same motor. It has VRO - Variable Ratio Oil. The intermittent buzzing, as I recall, is the "oil low" warning system. I have disabled my VRO, disabled the buzzer, and premix 50:1. Do a search for "VRO" for many instructions how to do this. In the meantime, premix your gas 50:1 before running the motor any more. Make sure you have oil in the tank and watch the level of oil to make sure it is going down (being consumed). Most of your questions can be addressed by searching this excellent forum. Clymer and Seloc also have aftermarket manuals. The consensus is that the factory OMC manual is the best if you can find one (I haven't been able to yet).

Happy boating.

zshooter,
Thank you for your response. I just want to be sure to get this straight. Are you saying to mix the gas/oil 50:1 and to also keep oil in the oil tank? Thanks again.

If it is a new VRO unit, mark your oil tank with a perminate marker where the oil level is if you can not see thru the oil tank. Continue to mix the gas and oil in the gas tank until you can see the level in the oil tank go down. When the oil level has droppped in the oil tank you know the VRO is working and can just use srtaight gas in the gas tank. Zshooter is right about the warning beep. It means the oil level in the oil tank is low. Fill the oil in the oil tank and see if the beeps stop. If they don't, it is possible the beeps are for an overheat condition.
