Info on Envinrude outboard E03421?

I have two old Evinrude outboard motors and don't know for sure their horsepower or year. I think they are either 28hp or 40hp. Only info I have is what I think is a serial no. for each: #1 is E03421...#2 is E03426. These motors came on a 1964 Evinrude Sweet 16 outboard if that helps. Would greately appreciate identifying info on these engines.

yep, those are the serial numbers. Meaningless because they start over every year. You need the model numbers, which preceed those numbers you gave.

Thanks for reply, F_R. Checked again and the model number on both engines listed ahead of serial numbers is 40453R. With that can you give me year and hp?

40453R = 1964 = 40 hp
