Info on MEL-HART/BARETTA 1st Boat

I'm considering buying an late 80s Baretta 200 Success cuddy as a first boat. <br /><br />Does any one know or know of any issues with the manufacturer??<br /><br />It has a 4.3L Cobra engine.<br /><br />I've read the treads on what to check on the engine, exterior and trailer (amoung other things). <br /><br />Any other tips will help greatly.<br /><br />Thanks in advance.

I looked at a 1987 MH/Baretta, 17', 470 merc, and thought it was pretty well made. I didn't like the fact that the gas tank was in the front, which put a great deal more weight on the trailer tongue than if it was to the rear of the trailer tires.

i have a 1977 15-6 baretta tri hull, put stringers and floor in last winter, takes on very little water, gelcoat cracked , needs new vinal, but still not a bad boat for being over 25 years old
